Janssen Scientific Affairs Division of Janssen Pharmaceuticals offers a two-year post-graduate fellowship that provides advanced skill training in medical information (MI), medical communications and clinical practice. The fellowship program provides opportunities to translate complex scientific information into unbiased medical content that supports the safe and effective use of Janssen products.

The two-year fellowship is divided into three rotations that build upon core skills and competencies.

Medical Information Call Center (6-months):

  • Develop competencies in communicating fair-balanced and accurate medical information.
  • Enhance interpersonal communications.
  • Gain proficiencies in adverse drug event reporting.

Medical Information (14-months):

  • Enhance skills in literature retrieval and analysis.
  • Improve scientific writing skills by authoring medical information response documents and escalated medical information requests.
  • Utilize critical thinking and clinical knowledge to develop fair and balanced communications of product information.
  • Support product launch and sales training material development.
  • Participate in promotional review meetings as part of the medical review team.

Clinical Practice Rotation (4-months)

  • Respond to medical information inquiries from pharmacists and clinicians.
  • Compile medical evidence in support/denial of product placement on hospital formulary.
  • Enhance presentation skills by providing formulary presentations at P&T committee meetings.
  • Work with Medication Safety Team and complete a medication safety project.
  • Engage with with clinicians and patients to optimize medication regimens.
  • Apply clinical knowledge to medication management activities
