USciences Receives Funding to Help Promote Physics Research in High Schools

USciences helping to host the 2019 U.S. IYPTThe Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics received a $25,000 grant from the American Institute of Physics that will be used to help further develop a summer camp.

The camp, titled “A Summer Camp for High School Students and Physics Teachers to Promote New Physics Research Activities in High School” will revolve around projects to help the International Young Physicists’ Tournament.

USciences hosted the U.S. tournament in April; Elia Eschenazi PhD, chair of the department, helped prepare the team to compete in the international competition that was held in Poland.

This is the second year the department received the William F. and Edith R. Meggers Project Award
