Events Mark Black History Month At USciences

The Office of Student Life and the Black Student Union are honoring Black History & Culture Month this February at USciences!

Students, faculty, and staff can look forward to several events throughout the month and into March, themed bulletin boards, a display of famous Black Scientists in the Science and Technology Center (STC) Atrium, a book display in the library, and more.

Our featured event will be the Celebration of Black History and Culture on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at 2pm – 3pm in the STC. The event will include: 

  • A Screening of: Dr. Daniel Hale Williams - The First Black Heart Surgeon In America Documentary in STC 137
  • Caribbean food from a locally Black owned business in STC 137
  • Virtual Black History Month Trivia in the Atrium with prizes!
  • The creation of a USciences Black History & Culture Month Quilt in the Atrium
  • Music, presentations, and more

Thursday, February 7, 2019, 2 p.m., Campus Quad: Black Student Union hosts the Black Lives Matter Silent Protest

Thursday, February 7, 2019, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.: Black HIstory Month-inspired Food in Wilson Dining Hall

Friday, February 15, 2019, 6 p.m. Location TBD: Black Student Union Soul Food Night

Thursday, February 21, 2019, 2 p.m. STC Atrium and STC 137: A Celebration of Black History and Culture 

Friday, February 22, 2019, 6 p.m., Location TBD: Black History Month Alumni Panel hosted by the Black Student Union

Friday, March 15, 2019, 7 p.m., Athletic/Recreation Center Multipurpose Room: Black Student Union Fashion Show
