Celebrating Campus Diversity with Multicultural Month
Multicultural Month at USciences is a time to celebrate the vast array of diversity
on our campus. Diversity is not limited to race; it includes ethnicity, gender identity, religion,
and all the aspects that make us who we are.
Mohak Dave PharmD'18, the Chair of Multicultural Affairs on the Student Government Association, worked with his committee members from a variety of student organizations to put together a packed schedule events over the course of March 14th to March 31st to celebrate and showcase all that our affinity groups have to offer. The events range from dance workshops to ice cream socials.
“Multicultural Month is an opportunity for all the cultural organizations on campus to showcase their club as well as the ideologies they stand for," said Dave. "It is also an opportunity to educate the campus community on the different religions and beliefs that can be found at USciences."
He also worked with Dr. Walter Perry, Director of Multicultural Affairs, to bring in a guest speaker, Dr. Richard Jermyn from Rowan University, to speak about cultural competency as a part of professional education.
Multicultural Month is a chance for all students, faculty and staff to celebrate our distinct backgrounds together, highlighting what makes us all unique while encouraging the inclusivity that makes our campus great, Dave said.
I am excited to see all of these great student organizations come together to provide an array of events for Multicultural Month, and hope that students will take advantage of all of these fun and educational opportunities!
