University of the Sciences has established the Icon Scholarship Fund, this year recognizing the late Frank Roia, PhD, HonAlm’83, former dean of students and vice president of student affairs from 1967-98. Dr. Roia’s wife, Marney, accepted this special honor on his behalf during the USciences’ annual Alumni Reunion on Saturday, Oct. 24.
This scholarship fund will continue to honor individuals, like Dr. Roia, who have made a long-lasting impact on the University and its community, based on suggestions from alumni.
During his tenure, Dr. Roia was a personal mentor and friend to many of his students through his teaching, Student Government involvement, Drama Club performances, and as a faculty representative to Kappa Psi Fraternity.
Although this November marks the fifth anniversary of Dr. Roia's death, the USciences community is pleased to celebrate his legacy through this scholarship fund, which will now benefit future students.
