Dr. Michelle E. Cohen Named Dean of Samson College of Health Sciences

CohenMichelle E. Cohen, PhD, has been named dean of Samson College of Health Sciences at University of the Sciences. Dr. Cohen was serving as the interim dean since August 2015.

Dr. Cohen joined the USciences community as an associate professor in the departments of occupational therapy and physical therapy in 2001. From 2008 to 2010, she served as president of the faculty senate, was named associate dean for Samson College in 2010, and in August 2012, she took on a new role as chief of staff for the president. She served another term as associate dean for Samson College from 2013 to 2015.

An experimental psychologist, Dr. Cohen has made her career doing and teaching applied research. She spent 13 years at Thomas Jefferson University including eight as research coordinator in the Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center of Delaware Valley and as an associate professor of occupational therapy and physical therapy. Dr. Cohen specializes in rehabilitation research and spinal cord injury.

Dr. Cohen has a BA in psychology from Arcadia University (Beaver College) and her MEd and PhD in educational psychology from Temple University. She also completed her post-doctoral training in experimental psychology at Bryn Mawr College. Dr. Cohen has also been broadly published in over 30 peer reviewed publications and made presentations at more than 40 national conferences.
