Dr. Charrell S. Porter Named Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at USciences
Charrell S. Porter, PharmD, has been named assistant professor of clinical pharmacy
at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. She comes to USciences with experience
working on chronic disease state management in underserved populations.
Dr. Porter’s practice interests include medication management of chronic diseases,
transitions of care, and barriers to medication adherence. Her research interests
include interprofessional education and the impact of pharmacist-provided medication
and therapy management on clinical outcomes.
At USciences, Dr. Porter will teach in a variety of course topics including those
related to diabetes, community practice, clinical skills, and physical assessments.
She will assist physicians and nurses at the West Philadelphia Federally Qualified
Health Center to create a patient-centered medical home model. She will also serve
as a preceptor to pharmacy students on rotations.
Dr. Porter earned her doctor of pharmacy degree at Virginia Commonwealth University
in Richmond, Va., prior to completing a pharmacy practice residency at Sibley Memorial
Hospital- Johns Hopkins Medicine in Washington, DC. A native of northern Virginia,
she currently resides in Philadelphia.
