Kathleen R. Mayes P’76, PharmD’78 began her tenure as interim president on July 13, 2015, becoming USciences 24th president. She takes over for board Chairman Marvin Samson HonAlm’96 who had been serving as interim president since the beginning of January.

Mayes“As an alumna and board member, I am fortunate to already know and appreciate that USciences is blessed with wonderful and talented students, passionate faculty, and dedicated staff,” Dr. Mayes said. “By serving as interim president, I can think of no better way to show my love and devotion for this institution.”

Over the course of the next few weeks, Dr. Mayes will be getting to know more operational elements of each department and college as well as connect with the University’s governance bodies.

In addition to her arrival, there were two administrative departures that were announced to the campus. Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Heidi Anderson announced her decision to leave the University as did Vice President for Institutional Advancement Carrie Collins.

Dr. Mayes will be relying on Samson, the deans, and the remaining cabinet members to offer guidance and advice regarding how to fill these positions.

“We are fortunate to have strong teams of people in both divisions who will be able to manage the day-to-day operations,” Dr. Mayes said. “I can assure you that we will do everything to maintain the highest standards in all areas of the University. The faculty and staff are very dedicated to this institution and are enthusiastic about its future.”
