Pre-Medical Program - Learning Opportunities
Because of the excellent reputation of University of the Sciences, the strength of our science curricula, and the personalized attention given to pre-med and pre-health professions students, the percentage of our applicants admitted to medical, dental, or other health professions schools is very high. An array of learning opportunities supplements the exceptionally strong classroom experience.
No matter what major you choose, you’ll have the opportunity to learn while you’re doing. You may engage in research as early as your freshman year. Collaborating with faculty, you’ll participate in discovery projects within your major.
Research Studies and Internships
Many of our pre-med students have participated in national studies and internships at premier research institutions and pharmaceutical labs. These experiences result in credentials that medical schools are looking for in successful candidates.
With the second-largest concentration of health resources in the country at our doorstep, the opportunities for diverse experiences are enormous. The Philadelphia area is home to 115 hospitals, numerous advanced research institutions, 200 of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotech firms, and 135 medical manufacturers.
Your major may give you the advantage of an inside look into some of these successful, innovative science industries and healthcare institutions. You may even choose to volunteer at leading hospitals such as The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia or the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania—both within walking distance of the campus.
