Message from the Program Director for Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacognosy

Many schools offer graduate degree programs in the chemical sciences. Few can match the experience you’ll enjoy at University of the Sciences.

We’ve earned a strong reputation as one of the best pharmaceutical science schools in the country—and we live up to it every day. Our programs are on the cutting edge of science, especially in the area of computational chemistry. Several of our distinguished faculty members formed the West Center for Computational Chemistry and Drug Design to address a wide range of problems in chemistry and biochemistry, using closely related computational tools. And we’re one of the only schools offering a graduate degree in pharmacognosy.

I think the real key to our students’ success, what really sets our department and our school apart, is individual attention. We take your education personally. We’re small by design, so you’ll never feel like a number. Our faculty members have an open-door policy, and you won’t need an appointment to talk with your research advisor.

You’ll also benefit from close interdepartmental relationships and cross-discipline collaboration. It’s nothing for a graduate student working on a problem in medicinal chemistry to visit one of our toxicologists to discuss potential problems of a prospective drug candidate.

I invite you to learn more about our biochemistry, chemistry, and pharmacognosy graduate programs—and about earning your degree from a university that’s as invested in your success as you are.
