Environmental Sciences Major - Experiential Opportunities

Hands-On Learning

All of the faculty involved with the interdisciplinary environmental science degree are actively involved in research in which current undergraduate students participate. You will be encouraged to participate in independent study or directed research.  And you will have an environmentally related summer internship or job before your fourth year.

Environmental Immersion

Our location affords you easy access to a vast array of diverse ecosystems to study. From nearby mountains to local watersheds, urban brownfields to oceanfronts, the richness and variety of environments surrounding the University provide the perfect classroom in which to learn. 

An Expert Faculty

Most of the science courses for environmental science are taught by current faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Faculty expertise includes the areas of environmental biology, environmental toxicology, environmental microbiology, ecology, aquatic biology, analytical methods and environmental health. Courses in environmental law, risk assessment and geology are be taught by practicing experts working in industry and for governmental agencies.
