Psychology Major - Career Outcomes

The BS in psychology program provides you with an ideal foundation to help you prepare for a career in public service, service industries, politics, education, and religion.

According to the American Psychological Association, psychology is a discipline with a bright future, particularly for those with strong quantitative (statistical) training, which University of the Sciences emphasizes. Among fields requiring a college degree, it is expected to continue to grow steadily for the next decade.

Psychologists work in a variety of settings, including:

  • Colleges, universities and professional schools (experimental psychology)
  • Hospitals, clinics and private practices (clinical psychology)
  • Businesses, government agencies or other organizations (industrial and organizational psychology)

You may pursue a career as a health psychologist, working with patients who have physical rather than psychological disorders.  You might help companies work with their human resources departments by providing advice about employee training, hiring practices, and worker morale and productivity.  If you would like to own your own business, you may open up your own practice and become a consultant.
