Information for Accepted / Deposited Graduate and Graduate Professional Students

Congratulations again on your acceptance to USciences! You are about to join a world-class community of scholars, researchers, and expert practitioners working at the cutting edge of science and healthcare. To get you ready, we've prepared a helpful list of resources:

  1. Graduate Students in MS, PhD, and Certificate Programs   Officially reserve your place at USciences by submitting your enrollment deposit*.  Check your acceptance letter for your deposit amount and due date, as well as the steps to submit your deposit online. This deposit will be credited toward your first semester's tuition. Please also submit your completed Graduate Enrollment Reservation Form to graduate@usciences.edu.
    * Enrollment and housing deposits are nonrefundable and will be credited to your bill.

  2. Graduate Professional Students in MOT, DrOT, DPT, PharmD, and Developing Physician Assistant Studies Programs  Officially reserve your place at USciences by submitting your enrollment deposit*. Check your acceptance letter for your deposit amount and due date, as well as the steps to submit your deposit online.  This deposit will be credited toward your first semester's tuition.
    * Enrollment and housing deposits are nonrefundable and will be credited to your bill.
  3. Graduate Professional Physical Therapy, Graduate Professional Pharmacy, and Post-Baccalaureate Occupational Therapy Students   Review this important information

  4. Investigate Your Financial Eligibility and Apply for Financial Aid Contact the Financial Aid Office to learn more about financial aid options for graduate students
  5. Attend Orientation  Check your email for Orientation dates. Don't miss this chance to meet your future classmates, get advising from program faculty, register for classes, and learn all the essentials about graduate student life at USciences. Online students are welcome but not required to attend Orientation.

  7. Explore Local Housing Options  Search our list of nearby apartments in Philadelphia's vibrant University City neighborhood
  8. Complete Your Student Health Record Complete your Student Health Record by the deadline. There are several different Student Health Records, so please be sure you select the correct one. Graduate student forms are due August 7, 2020. Graduate professional students are due in May or August depending on your program. Please check your forms for the exact date.   9. Complete the Student Health Insurance Waiver/Enrollment Process  Undergraduate students registered for six or more credits and graduate students registered for five or more credits are required to enroll in the University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP.) Students who are able to demonstrate comparable coverage may be able to opt out of the SHIP. Visit the Student Health Insurance webpage for more information or call First Risk Advisors, 267-880-2300 with any questions.
  10. Commuter Students 
    If you plan to take public transportation: The university partners with SEPTA for a select number of discounted student commuter passes per semester. Passes are purchased on a first come, first served basis. To obtain a SEPTA commuter pass, you will need to obtain a SEPTA Key Card (if you do not already have one) and register your card online. You will find details about where you can obtain a Key Card here. Record your Card Reference ID, which you will need to load your semester pass onto your card. Please email Rodney Banks for more information. The deadlines set by SEPTA for the discounted passes are July 6th (fall passes) and the end of November (spring passes).
    If you plan to drive: The university offers parking permits for commuter students on a first come, first served basis for an annual fee.  Please email Terry Reilly starting in early July to apply for a parking permit for a fall semester start or in November for a spring semester start.

  11. Review the University's computing requirements Review the computing requirements for the university community.  For questions, reach out to the Information Technology department at helpdesk@usciences.edu.

  12. Placement Exams for Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Pharmacognosy Students  Students in these programs should schedule placement exams prior to the start of classes by contacting Dr. Tomsho at chemgradprogramdirector@usciences.edu
  13. Review Technical Standards/Essential Functions  Professional students in Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, and Physical Therapy will need to review technical standards/essential functions prior to beginning class. Select your program from the list below:
    - Occupational Therapy

    - Physical Therapy
  14. Graduate Student Instructors  Graduate Student Instructors (GSI) must submit their completed GSI contract to graduateoffice@usciences.edu and attend GSI training. For questions, contact Cassandra Henderson, Director of Graduate Education, at c.henderson@usciences.edu or your program director
  15. Students with Disabilities: USciences supports the educational endeavors of all students, including students with disabilities. ADA defines a disability as a mental or physical impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. Attend Orientation

All international graduate students must attend both the International Student Orientation and the New Student Orientation. Meet your future classmates, get advising from program faculty, register for classes, and learn all the essentials about graduate student life at USciences. Please make plans to be on campus the week prior to the start of classes.

Students offered admission to USciences and who are considering pursuing certain healthcare related careers must be aware that a positive criminal background check could lead to an inability to participate with field experience sites, not graduating on time, dismissal from the program, and/or an inability to become licensed in some healthcare or healthcare related professions.
