Because we are unable to welcome you to campus as we normally do at Summer Orientation, our team has created some additional online activities to help get you excited about joining the USciences community:

Virtual Interest Groups

Throughout the summer, our Orientation Leaders will host online events that will help you get acclimated to campus life while connecting with current students and your future classmates.

Devil Dash Virtual 5k

July 6–27

USciences Orientation team and Office of Student Life are excited to invite you to participate in the first-ever Devil Dash Virtual 5k. FREE for all participants—new students, family, friends and alumni— all are welcome to run with Drake! 

The race period is July 6–27. Go at your own pace, anytime, anywhere within the race period. At the completion of the race period, all new students will receive a finisher medal. Now let's get moving!

How to Participate:

  1. Register Now: Participants are encouraged to make a donation to the Student Emergency Support fund during registration. You will receive a confirmation email with a link to access your Devil Dash printable race bib.
  2. Map Your Route: Between July 6–27, complete 5k (3.1 miles) or whatever distance you are able. Run, skip, walk, wheel or hike—be sure to practice social distancing.
  3. Represent! Wear your favorite USciences gear and your race bib when you are participating. When you finish the "race," snap a photo and tag us @usciences_orientation. That’s how we know you’ve officially finished the race. 
  4. Check Out Your Competition: Follow @usciences_orientation to see our Devil Dash highlight album, which will be posted after the race period. 
  5. Submit Your ResultsAll new students will receive a finisher medal!

Digital Mosaic

Deadline: July 9

While we all can’t physically be together this summer, we still want to create something to commemorate this experience. But we need your help! Please upload a photo of yourself for our Orientation Digital Photo Mosaic by July 9. This mosaic will be featured on a custom banner that will be hung on campus when you arrive. Can’t wait to check it out? The mosaic will also be posted on the Orientation instagram page: @usciences_orientation.

Information Technology Virtual Support Session

Thursday, July 9 from 11 a.m.–noon 

If you need any additional help or have any questions about setting up your student account after watching the step-by-step instructional video from our IT Department you can join our Virtual Support Session.

Be sure you have your student account information logging in. If prompted, the meeting password is: 084567.

Bingo with Resident Assistants

July 16, 7–8pm

You’re invited to an evening of Virtual Bingo to welcome you to the campus community. Join our Resident Life staff and your future classmates on Thursday, July 16, at 7pm for the chance to win a Fitbit, Amazon Kindle, and a Keurig! 

Prior to the event make sure you check out the instructions for how Zoom Bingo will be played. Please read carefully—the instructions explain the rules, what to do if you win to get your prize, how to get your virtual bingo card, and much more. 

The basics:

  1. You will need two internet-enabled devices to play, one for using Zoom and one for playing bingo (typically a computer & smartphone).
  2. The game will be played in three rounds, one for each prize, read the instructions to see the rules. 
  3. Then join us on Thursday, July 16 at 7 p.m. to begin.
