Students involved in Philadelphia College of Pharmacy-Student Society of Health System Pharmacy (PCP-SSHP) campus organization hosted a health fair in conjunction with the 46th Street Baptist Church on March 30, 2019. The event was well attended by community members.

"The church is practically part of our campus now and as a healthcare professional, it is our responsibility to serve the local residents, said Vidhi Gandhi PharmD'20, community service chair for PCP-SSHP. "Several community members attended the fair, engaged in the activities, and thoroughly enjoyed their time there. Given the demographics, diabetes and hypertension were two prevalent disease states. Hence, blood pressure screening table, as well as the diabetes educational posters, were two popular stations. Not only that, the community members were eager to learn more about OTC medications, proper disposal of it, and overall how they can improve their adherence."

Gandhi said she learned that she can apply what she and others have learned in the classroom to help individuals in the community and that being able to answer simple questions and make recommendations can make a great impact.
