USciences Microbiology Club Accepted as Chapter of ASM

Published on September 9, 2020

The USciences Microbiology Club has been officially accepted as a student chapter of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). ASM is one of the largest microbiology societies in the works, with over 30,000 members. This chapter is sponsored by the Eastern Pennsylvania branch of ASM (EPAASM), who has been sponsoring microbiologists in the tri-state area for more than 100 years.

The Microbiology Club includes microbiology majors and minors, as well as those who have an interest in microbial life and processes. The club holds several annual activities, including “Painting with Microbes” and “What’s That Phunk on My Phone?”

The club’s advisor, Jason Heindl, PhD, assistant professor of biological sciences, is very proud of the great work this student group continues to do, and for their “infectious” enthusiasm for sharing the world of microbiology with the campus community.
