USciences sponsored The Healthier You Conference 2018 on Friday, May 11. Over 250 adults from the region attended for a full day of personal development, inspiration, and networking.
Hank Flynn of Fox29 was the emcee for the opening ceremony where President Dr. Paul Katz welcomed participants and introduced Dr. Heidi Freeman who gave an insightful workplace engagement talk. Then participants were off to attend a variety of wellness workshops on work-life balance, weight loss, resilience, and other hot topics.
Later in the day Maiken Scott, host and creative director at WHYY, interviewed keynote guest Lisa Thomas-Laury who shared her the story of how her health crisis led to retirement after over almost 40 years as an anchor at 6abc.
Other special guests included former Philadelphia Eagle Brandon Hepburn. Brandon facilitated a 'train like a pro' fitness session while PCP graduate Nidhi Bagda led an engaging yoga class. Attendees also participated in Tai Chi, kickboxing, and Zumba. The Exhibitor Hall was full of local organizations from various industries including healthcare, financial, beauty, and others.
Proceeds from the event supported UpLift Solutions, a local non-profit dedicated to making sure underserved communities have access to quality food. From wellness workshops, to fitness classes, to massages, a vision board party, cooking demos, and other fun activities, participants had a fantastic day at USciences.
Tom Gregorits, Pharmaceutical Healthcare and Business student, was on the event planning committee. The Healthier You Conference was founded in 2015 by PCP Compliance Coordinator Kristin Motley.
