A research group led by Jason Heindl, PhD, assistant professor of biological sciences, was well represented at the 40th Annual Crown Gall Conference held on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri in October.
Dr. Heindl opened the conference with a talk describing his research and CURE-based teaching at USciences. Kevin Failor, a postdoctoral fellow working with Dr. Heindl presented a 5-minute "lightning" talk and a poster on his research.
Julia Perkowski MB'20, also presented a poster covering her research in the lab. Perkowski was awarded a travel fellowship by the United States Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture to attend the conference. The Crown Gall conference brings together researchers from across the country and around the world to discuss the ecology, evolution, and molecular microbiology of the plant pathogen Agrobacterium tumefaciens and related microbes.
