Thierry Petit Joins Misher College of Arts and Sciences

Thierry Petit, PhDThierry Petit, PhD, has joined Misher College of Arts and Sciences as an assistant professor of Data Science. Dr. Petit completed his doctorate in computer science at Montpellier University in France, and is now residing in Philadelphia with his family, after serving as a tenured Associate Professor in France for about 15 years (Institut Mines-Telecom in Nantes).   

Dr. Petit’s research interests focus on constraint programming, artificial intelligence, and operations research. He is serving as a senior program committee member of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) 2021, snand will be serving as a senior program committee member of the International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI) 2021, which are known as the two top-level international conferences in the field of artificial intelligence. 

Dr. Petit takes a problem-based approach to teaching and believes that the most effective teaching method is to use a wide variety of learning techniques. When he isn’t working, Dr. Petit enjoys playing with his two kids, cooking, traveling, photography, and music.
