On March 24th, the Student Society of MLS and ASCLS-PA Delaware Valley Chapter co-hosted the annual USciences MLS Alumni Panel via Zoom. The panel featured Ta'teanna Lyerly, MLS'20, Hannah Stechmann, MLS'20, James Henry, MT'99, and Betty Ciesla, MT'73.
The alumni shared their current careers. Both Lyerly and Stechmann work at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in their clinical laboratory, Henry is working at Cepheid GeneXpert molecular diagnostics, and Ciesla has retired from a very active career r using her skills as a Medical Technologist to write "Hematology in Practice,” which is the textbook the MLS program uses in their hematology course.
Attendees were current MLS USciences students, the past and current MLS program directors, the Biological Sciences department chair and faculty, the USciences alumni director, as well as guests from ASCLS-PA, and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. This event enlightened current students in attendance on the many career options that an MLS degree from USciences can prepare them for.
