Pharm/Tox, PharmSci Students Focus on Wellness at Event

Published on February 24, 2020

Wellness EventStudents at USciences enrolled in undergraduate Pharmacology and Toxicology or Pharmaceutical Sciences courses participated in a wellness activity organized by Dr. Isabelle  Mercier, Dr. Clyde Ofner and Dr. Heidi Freeman on February 5.

This collaborative effort instructed students how to best manage stress associated with public speaking. Students participated in discussions about becoming consciously more aware of the body’s normal responses to stress and how to incorporate and embrace these in a productive and meaningful way while presenting in front of an audience.

Students also paused to reflect and performed breathing exercises to become aware of the importance of wellness in making public speaking a fun experience.

This was a collaborative effort with the Departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Office of Health & Wellness and was supported by funding from the American College Health Foundation.
