Health Fair

Two faculty members, Danielle Alm, PharmD, who specializes in pediatrics, and Madeline King, PharmD, who specializes in infectious diseases, along with one P3 pharmacy student, Chiamaka Nwokeji PharmD’19, participated in the Veteran’s School Health Fair at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University on May 24. The health fair aimed to teach first and second graders about basic health through a series of booths with different topics as well as expose students to different health professionals. Students rotated in groups to learn about medication safety by differentiating between pills and candy, how lungs work and the effect of smoking on lungs, the importance of exercise, and asthma medications and triggers, in addition to several other topics. Students were very enthusiastic, and interested in asking questions of the professionals at each booth.  These are important topics for the students to learn early on, and to enhance what they learn in the classroom.
