Dr. John Karanicolas, a professor from Fox Chase Cancer Center, was the guest speaker at the Seminar Series
for the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. Dr. Karanicolas spoke about his adventures
in computational chemical biology. The talk focused on his research on protein kinases
and how the evolution of data science has influenced his lab and the work that his
students are producing.
Dr. Karanicolas stressed to constantly look for the fundamental problems in order to better the research you are exploring. By always looking for the fundamental problems, Dr. Karanicolas and his research team have developed a very sophisticated comparative modeling approach that is cutting edge. The integration of using data science in chemical biology is proof that science is everywhere.
