First SEA-PHAGES Class Graduates from USciences

In May, the first class of the SEA-PHAGES (Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science) program graduated.
In 2017, the program was expanded due to its popularity. SEA-PHAGES is a two semester
program open to first-year students that focuses on extracting and analyzing viruses
from soil samples.
Below is a list of the 2019 graduates and what their future plans are:
- Matthew Marshall Bio’19 – Jefferson Medical School
- Anita Varkey Bio’19 – UPenn vet school
- Sameer Akhtar Bio’19 – VCOM
- Madison Weston Bio’19 – interested in MS program in animal science
- Samantha Donovan BMS’19 – Hofstra Med School
- Rita-Anne Falconio BMS’19 – Temple podiatry school
- Shivsai Gongalla BMS’19 – Cooper Medical School
- Alexis Schirling BMS’19 – NIH (HIV lab)
- Trey Hillard MB’19 – 2nd Lieutenant, Company Training Officer, TRADOC Cadet Command
- Paulina Koyfman MB’19 – interested in microbiology research
- Kirthi Machireddy Bio’19 – VCOM
