Faculty Receives Grant to Support Students in Recovery
Published on January 17, 2022
Andrew Peterson PharmD, PhD, faculty member and Executive Director of the Substance Use Disorders Institute, has received a grant of nearly $50,000 from the Association for Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE)/IBX Foundation. The grant aims to make USciences a recovery-friendly campus.
Per the proposal, this funding will go towards implementing a structured program to support students recovering from substance use disorders by using a group of trained faculty, staff, and students. The program will feature virtual and in-person safe spaces for students to discuss recovery with peers and recovery allies.
The ultimate goal of the initiative is to decrease the stigma associated with substance use disorder and to provide students with resources for maintaining their recovery on campus.
