Bioinformatics Alum Creates AI System to Help Cancer Patients

Cindy Winter, MS’15 (Bioinformatics), was recently awarded the Director’s Award at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of National Institutes of Health. Since 2016, Winter and the informatics group at NCI have been creating an artificial intelligence (AI) system which assigns patients to cancer treatments based on genomic data.
Winter credits her degree from USciences for her success saying “My masters degree totally made the difference for getting this job.”
