Alumni Get Involved or Volunteer

The next generation will benefit from your expertise and direction.  There are numerous opportunities to make certain that our future leaders do not make their journey alone.

For information on volunteer opportunities, contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 888-857-6264 or via email at alumnirelations@usciences.edu .

Mentor

Make a difference in the life of a student. The Office of Career Services’ Next Step Network program provides an excellent opportunity for alumni to interact with students and help them make good career decisions, build confidence and to assist them in moving forward as they enter the professional workforce. Your own experiences, both pre and post-graduation, will be beneficial to students in all aspects of professionalism, leadership, communication and career planning

Speak

Sit on a discipline-based panel or be a guest lecturer in the classroom. Share your professional and educational experience with students who will follow into your field of expertise. You might make a significant impact on their career path while networking with fellow alumni.

Serve

Attend Alumni Association Board of Directors meetings (everyone is welcome) and join others who act as liaisons between the University and the alumni body. Help chart your alma mater’s course and its future alumni, the students, by serving on one of nine committees focused on shaping the growth and development of the University.

Support

Attend sports events and cheer on our student athletes. Your participation gives “home team advantage” meaning. Can’t attend sports events? Make a donation – this is another way to support your alma mater while playing an important role in students’ careers and future. Go to our Giving to USciences page to make a donation.

Recruit

Be a part of the STAR Program and assist the Admission Office with recruitment. Share your own campus experiences with prospective students at high school college fairs and play an important role in personalizing the admission process. As a representative or “face” of the University, your help in answering prospective students’ questions and concerns is invaluable. The Admission office needs your help with interviewing and telephoning prospective students as well. A short training program is mandatory. Visit our Alumni Volunteering page for more details on the STAR Program.

Host

Throw a party! The Office of Alumni Relations coordinates receptions for students, alumni, current and former faculty to gather at special locations to meet the president, network, socialize, and catch up. These receptions take place throughout the country – wherever we have alumni. If you would like to host an event, please contact the Alumni Relations Office.

Participate

Take part in student/alumni activities or help staff events. Move-In Day, Student Appreciation Day, Olympics, Career Fair and Convocation are just a few of the activities in which you can interact and play a role in creating positive school experiences for students.

Alumni Volunteers

The experience of our faculty, staff, and especially our students, is made so much richer by the commitment and caring of our alumni, and we thank you for your support!

We make every effort to prepare an accurate list. If you participated in one of our various activities throughout the fiscal year (July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014), and you don’t see your name listed, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at 888-857-6264 or via email, and we’ll happily add it.

The STAR Program

The Support Team of Alumni Representatives (STAR) allows alumni to assist with the recruitment of prospective students; encouraging accepted students to select USciences as their college destination; and congratulating enrolled students who will step foot on campus for the first time.

You can participate in the STAR program whether you are close to campus or in another part of the country, whether you have an hour to give or an entire day.

We are so very thankful for your support!

Here's how you can help:

Open Houses

The Admission Office hosts several recruitment events on campus each year, including Open Houses. Alumni can participate in a panel discussion, speaking to prospective students and their parents about why you chose to attend USciences, what you are doing now, and why USciences is a great fit.

College fairs

Representing USciences at a college fair is a valuable service for the Admission Office. Sharing your experiences brings life to the information that prospective students read on our website or our materials.

Host a recruitment event

Opening your home to prospective students and their parents in your area, as well as fellow alumni and parents of current students, would be a wonderful welcome to those who are considering USciences. It is also a great opportunity to forge connections between those who are already passionate about the institution to those who are interested in learning more about it.

Accepted student calls

Who better to call and congratulate accepted students than our alumni! There is nothing as rewarding as being the bearer of great news—or at least further reinforcing that USciences is eager to welcome new students into the USciences family.

Training and materials

The Admission Office will provide you with the requisite training and materials that you need to effectively engage in these activities. From printed materials to website videos and postings, to other platforms for engagement, we work to make certain that your experience as a STAR is just as rewarding as your experience was as a student.

Rewarding experience

By volunteering for these activities, you’ll be joining fellow alumni who contribute their time and energy for the betterment of our students—both current and future.
