General Counsel

The Office of General Counsel (OGC) manages the legal affairs of USciences.  It provides legal counsel, litigation and legal risk management, contract drafting and review, compliance oversight and preventative advice to the University.  It serves an advisory as well as educational function within the university community, providing training to deans, chairs and managers in matters of potential legal risk to the University.

Communications regarding legal matters with the OGC attorneys on behalf of USciences are ordinarily protected by attorney-client privilege and are confidential.  The OGC does not provide advice in matters unrelated to USciences business or to individuals whose interest are or may be adverse to the United States.

The OGC does not provide personal legal advice or representation to individual member of the USciences community regarding matters of a personal nature, such as landlord tenant issues, wills, and domestic matter (i.e. child support or divorce) but may provide referrals if needed.

Information for USciences Faculty and Staff

Information for current USciences faculty and staff is available on the OGC intranet/portal site.  This includes guidance on responding to requests for information and the service of legal documents.
