USciences offers a wide range of services to help you improve your skills as a student and become a successful, independent learner. We work with faculty and other student support staff to ensure that you receive the best help we can offer. All of our academic support services are free for matriculating undergraduate students.
Peer Tutoring is available to all students in numerous first, second, and third year courses at the university. One to three students participate in face-to-face sixty minute sessions conducted by professionally trained Peer Tutors who have successfully completed the course. Current students may schedule a subject tutoring appointment online. Students meet with the Assistant Director to discuss an array of academic and professional topics. These meetings provide an opportunity for students to learn about success strategies most relevant to their own learning and working style. Current students may request a meeting online.
Student Success Sessions
These forty minute seminars cover topics that will enhance your academic abilities; such as note taking, test taking, goal development, time management, and more. The full schedule for current students can be found on the Tutoring Center's Blackboard Portal page.
In-Class Success Sessions
INCS are academic seminars requested by faculty and staff to be conducted inside the classroom.They provide an overview of numerous academic, professional, and personal strategies to enhance a students ability to succeed at USciences and beyond. Interested faculty and staff may submit an INCS request online.
We have several resources available to students at our offices throughout the year. All are free unless otherwise noted.
The Tutoring Center is open to all students to utilize for studying independently or with small groups. The space is also available for student organizations, presentation practice, and private study sessions. Be sure to contact the Assistant Director for more details. We have an extensive list of textbooks that you may use for reference during office hours. These may not be removed from the Tutoring Center (344 Griffith Hall).
