The University’s Board of Trustees announced that Valerie Weil, MD, will serve as interim president of USciences beginning in July 2021. Dr. Weil had previously served as Chief Financial and Operating Officer at USciences since 2016, overseeing Finance, Human Resources, Facilities, Risk Management and Legal Services, Auxiliary Services, and Public Safety.
Prior to her time at USciences, Dr. Weil held the position of associate dean for finance, administration, and operations at Cooper Medical School where she led the medical school operations and finance functions, including finance and budgeting; information technology strategy and operations; facilities planning and operations; and marketing activities. She also served as vice president for strategic planning and business development for Cooper University Health Care. She previously worked for McKinsey & Company as well as holding a faculty position in the division of general internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Weil received her MD from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She received a bachelor of science in biology from Bucknell University.
