RESEARCH INTERESTS

Algebra, ring and module theory. More specifically: torsion theories, rings of quotients, rings of operators, derivations on rings, finite von Neumann algebra, Baer *-rings. 4. Curriculum Development and Teaching Innovations. The outcomes of these activities are summarized in seven Documents of Innovations published by USP in 2003, 2005 and 2006.

·      Created ``Differential Geometry" (MA430) in 2010.

·      Revised the course and introduced technology component to ``Differential Equations" (MA320) in 2009.

·      Created ``Mathematical Modeling" (MA422) in 2007.

·      Created ``Topics in Mathematics with Applications to Chemistry'' (MA360) in 2004. This course focuses on topics from mathematics that are used in chemistry and is aimed to chemistry majors. It unites different areas of mathematics rarely presented together in the same course.

·        Introduced reformed calculus ideas and MATLAB to calculus courses at USP, 2003. This was the first time that a computer application for mathematical calculations was incorporated in the curriculum at USP. MATLAB was used in Calculus 2 and 3 courses 2003 – present, in Calculus 1 course 2006 – present, and in Mathematical Modeling course 2008 – present.

·        Expanded the topics of a freshman class by relating biology and mathematics.
