Student Leadership Awards

The Annual Student Leadership Awards Program will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 6:00 pm in the Astra Zeneca Auditorium, STC-145.

Nominations

In preparation of this ceremony, Student Government and Student Life need your assistance in nominating students, faculty, staff and organizations for the following awards. After all nominations are received, a committee will be formed to select the winning nominees.

Nomination forms are available on the online.usp.edu Goggle site. The criteria for each award is listed below. To access the site for each nomination, click on the individual award. Please remember that you must be on your online.usp.edu account and not on any outside e-mail account.

  • Student Organization of the Year
    • A USciences organization which demonstrated a commitment to excellence in the fulfillment of its purpose and goals, as well as those of the University, throughout the year.
    • Responded to the needs and improved the quality of life for its members and the University community.
    • Provided programs that promoted interaction among the members and the University community.
  • Martin Luther King Service Award
    • A USciences organization or student.
    • Identified and responded to a social injustice or community concern with a constructive and effective student initiated project or program.
    • Individual or group demonstrates the spirit Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. legacy of courage, commitment, leadership, sacrifice and service.
  • Emerging Student Leader of the Year
    • First or second year student at USciences.
    • Individual has displayed a high level of motivation, innovation, creative leadership, and a commitment to co-curricular life at USciences.
  • Student Leader of the Year
    • A student at USciences (currently must be in at least his/her third year).
    • Demonstrated a commitment to serving the needs of other students even in times when there have been set backs or barriers.
    • Faced and overcame a leadership or organizational challenge from which he / she developed specific skills and/or self-confidence.
    • Individual has consistently displayed the highest attributes of leadership, enthusiasm and motivation around student life at USciences.
    • Demonstrated initiative and self-direction.
  • Synergy Award Nomination Form
    • A USciences organization or student.
    • Conducted an outstanding program in collaboration with another leader or USciences organization.
    • Exhibited team work and collaboration in all aspects of the event.
    • Demonstrated a commitment to a common goal that speaks to one of the University’s goals and / or values.
  • Outstanding Cultural Program of the Year
    • An outstanding cultural program presented by a USciences organization, student or students.
    • Conducted an outstanding program which promoted diversity, cross-cultural sensitivity and appreciation. The program’s content or theme may have a single or multi-cultural focus.
    • Promoted an opportunity to transcend cultural and racial boundaries.
  • Outstanding Advisor of the Year
    • A member of the faculty or staff at USciences.
    • Actively provided motivation and encouragement to the organization.
    • Recognized and promoted the goals of the organization.
    • Assisted with the orientation and training of new officers.
    • Provided continuity for the organization.
  • Campus Community Development Program
    • A program developed, presented and promoted by a USciences organization, student or students.
    • An outstanding one-time or on-going community development program for the USciences campus community.
    • Demonstrated an innovative and/or creative outreach to the campus community which resulted in bringing the University community together and accomplishing at least one of the University’s missions, goals and / or values.

Please note:

  • A completed nomination form for these awards must be submitted by Friday, March 2.
  • We encourage self-nomination for any category.
  • Individuals may nominate in as many categories as they wish.
  • Individuals may nominate more than one person/organization in the same category.

 

 

Use the Who's Who Application Form to self nominate for the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

 

Selection will be made on the basis of an evaluation of the student's:

1. Scholastic ability-GPA of at least 3.4
2. Must be at least a second year or above student.
3. Participation and leadership in academic and co-curricular activities
4. Citizenship and service to the College and Community
5. Potential for future leadershiP

Please note:

  • A completed nomination form for this award must be submitted by Friday, March 2.
  • Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges must be self-nominated.
