Memories don’t always last a lifetime. Just ask Angela Schaffer. As a graduate fellow at UScience’s Penn Memory Center, she works with Alzheimer’s patients and other adults with mild cognitive impairments. Her research through the Centers for Excellence in Research of Neurodegenerative Diseases sets out to identify biomarkers to enable diagnosis in the early stages of dementia. “Neuropsychology is a fascinating field,” Schaffer says. “I truly enjoy using the clinical skills I obtained through my studies along with conducting research.” Drawn to USciences by its small classes, Schaffer discovered another plus in an unforgettable faculty: “I'm proud to have studied at USciences where my professors challenged me to be my best,” she says. “They worked closely with me at each step to make learning an engaging and exciting process.”
