With medical school on the horizon, Vincent Casiano graduated from USciences with a double major in Biology and Medical Technology. The chance to gain practical experience is one of the reasons he was drawn to campus. As an undergraduate, he conducted research at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center’s Sleep Lab. “I was part of a team researching the causes of the downstream effects of sleep deprivation on the body,” he says. “No one knows the mechanism that triggers them. We wanted to be the first to discover the molecular pathway.” According to Casiano, “The preparation I received at USciences—especially the way labs are held and the techniques I learned—have prepared me for real lab experiences. I feel the caliber of the education I received was remarkable.”
