Jordan Taormina has a significant head start in the pharmaceutical world. He’s now completing year two of his Managed Markets Fellowship at Genentech. Taormina works on-site in rotations across the managed care and customer operations division at the biotech giant’s South San Francisco headquarters. His MBA in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business (and BS in Biology) from USciences, as well as work experience in chemistry and pharmaceutical sales, made Taormina an especially well-rounded candidate for the prestigious, salaried fellowship program. “USciences gave me the context to parlay my experience into a great employment opportunity,” he said. “Colleagues at USciences and Genentech are so welcoming and helpful that the transition from educational to professional life has been seamless.” His advice to other graduate students: Leverage teacher connections as much as possible. “Teachers are invaluable for helping you gain hands-on training and real-world experience through internships and jobs.”
