Thanks to daily communication, regular surveys, and a staff of 75 student workers, Marc Caserio has a good handle on what students want out of their Athletic/Recreation Center (ARC).
“When students voice their opinion and you follow through, it makes them feel their input is important,” says Mr. Caserio, the University’s campus recreation director. “That’s why we’re here -- we’re a student-driven facility.”
Mr. Caserio’s emphasis on serving students has resulted in a rich variety of recreation initiatives, from a thriving intramural program to the latest group fitness activities to traditional training equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals and weight machines.
“Students are different,” he says. “Not everyone is an all-star basketball or football player. You have to offer a variety of activities and make everyone feel comfortable coming in.”
