First Year Science Fair
First-Year Science Fair: October 28, 2010
First-year students had a chance to show off some of their research to faculty, staff, and other students at the annual First-Year Student Science Fair. The students displayed posters on topics ranging across science, health/wellness promotion, disease states, and more. Photo Gallery

In the Community
Tent City 2010
Alpha Phi Omega held their annual Tent City Nov. 10-11, camping out on D'Angelo Mall to raise awareness of homelessness and to collect clothing and blankets for the less fortunate.

dot During Sodexo's Helping Hands promotion, students and staff donated 175 pounds of canned goods to Philabundance to help our neighbors in need during the holiday season.

USciences Athletes Have High Academic Success
DrakeAccording to statistics released by the NCAA, the Devils recorded an academic success rate of 99 percent, ranking tops among all 14 institutions within the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and second in Div. II.

The Admission Office hosted its first Virtual Open House in conjunction with CollegeWeekLive on Nov. 10, connecting students, parents, and counselors live online.

Health Tip: Alzheimer's Disease and The Holidays
When a relative or family friend experiences memory loss associated with Alzheimer’s disease, holiday gatherings can be particularly trying. Dr. Stephen Moelter suggests ways for adults and children to engage those with memory difficulty to ensure a meaningful holiday season.

Athletics to Induct Two into Hall of Fame
The Athletics Hall of Fame will welcome its two newest members, Natalie Kohutka Grogan PT'94 (Softball, Women's Basketball 1989-93) and Mark Shaw P’85 (Men’s Cross Country 1980-83) in a halftime ceremony at approximately 2:30 p.m.
on Dec. 4.

1970
Eileen D. Rowan BI’70 was sorry to miss her 40th Reunion. She has recently moved to Florida and is semi-retired, doing veterinary relief work for various hospitals. She can’t wait to start enjoying the outdoor activities Pine Island, FL has to offer.

1989 
Michelle (Franco) Kloecker P’89 (MBA’95, Drexel University; JD’99, Temple University) and her husband Richard announced the birth of daughter Sophia Mariangela on December 5, 2009. Sophia joins big brother RJ, age five. Michelle is associate general counsel at King Pharmaceuticals and Rick is a senior director of new products at Daiichi Sankyo. The family lives in Bloomsbury, NJ.

2008 
Zachary T. Hopkins PharmD’08 married his high school sweetheart Toni on October 11, 2008. Former classmates Mark L. Wenzel and David I. Errickson, both also PharmD’08, were groomsmen. Zachary and Toni are awaiting the birth of their first child on December 3, 2010.

IN MEMORIAM

1950 
George Strauss P’50 passed away on September 16, 2010 at age 84. Survivors include his wife MaryAnn, daughter Cynthia, and son George William.
