The Hamels Foundation
New Playground is a Home Run
Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels and his wife Heidi presented the Alexander Wilson Elementary School with a grant to build a new playground. USciences is also a contributor to the community endeavor.

On June 2, the Wistar Institute and University of the Sciences celebrated the naming of Dr. Paul M. Lieberman (above) as the McNeil Professor of Molecular Medicine and Translational Research.

BillboardNew Billboards Enhance University’s Image
As part of University of the Sciences’ new branding campaign, three billboards have been erected in Philadelphia. The messages are meant to define the essence of what students who choose a USciences’ education can do.

Class of 2010 Snapshot: from Grads to the Workforce
A survey of the 2010 graduating class shows that 71 percent already had a job or placement in a graduate program before graduation. Historically, after three months, that number shoots up to 90 percent.

USciences has lost one of its most accomplished alumni with the passing of our longtime friend Bob McNeil on May 20.

Animal Intrigue for Fifth Graders
After successfully completing her six-week student teaching experience at Saint Francis de Sales Elementary School, USciences student Megan Garrison arranged for her two fifth grade general science classes to visit the campus on May 5, 2010.

William G. Gillespie
P’50 retired in September 2009 after 59 years as a pharmacist. He lives in St. Joseph, MI.

1967
Ronald P. Ferri retired from Community Pharmacy in 2007. He worked at Hopkinson House Pharmacy, Washington Square Pharmacy, CVS, and ShopRite prior to retirement. He moved from Philadelphia to Bar Harbor, ME, where he is enjoying retirement.

Andrea (Parisse) Gosda
P’87 (MBA’94, St. John’s University) and her husband Edmond announce the adoption of their son Charles Jacob, born on March 30, 2009.

1991
Franklin J. Rooks
MPT’91 received his J.D. degree from Widener University on May 15, 2010. He will be sitting for the PA & NJ bar exams in July 2010.

Victoria (Smedley) Heritage
P’00 and her husband Christopher are the parents of Benjamin Christopher, born on December 8, 2008. The family lives in Swedesboro, NJ.

2005
Ellina (Khaykin) Max
PharmD’05 and her husband Bryan announced the birth of daughter Talia Madeline on October 30, 2009. Ellina is currently employed at Boston Medical Center as a clinical pharmacist. Bryan is finishing his pediatric anesthesia fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.
