On March 28, more than 200 runners and walkers pounded the pavement at University of the Sciences' 4th Annual 5K Race for Humanity. The race raised more than $10,000 for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.

Free Homeowner Workshops
To meet the need for information about the care and maintenance of historic properties, the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia is offering an ongoing series of free Homeowner Workshops in the spring and fall targeted to the owners, and aspiring owners, of older and historic homes.

Phi Kappa Psi Volunteer to Green Woodland Ave.
Brothers of University of the Sciences' Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity partnered with UC Green to organize a community clean up on Friday, March 13.

5th Annual Lake Como 5K In Memory of Grania Maggio
On Saturday, April 25, celebrate the life of Grania Maggio and support the Grania Maggio Study Abroad Endowment Fund at the University by participating in the 5th Annual Lake Como 5K presented by the Jersey Shore Club.

On May 7, Tune into WHYY!
Thursday, May 7, from 6-10 a.m., representatives from University of the Sciences will be manning the phones at WHYY during the radio station’s College Challenge. Listeners can call in to pledge their support for their alma mater and the school with the highest number of callers will win the Silver College Challenge Cup. Help the University take the title by calling in!

Femi Winners
The 3rd Annual Femi Memorial 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament brought together 24 teams from across the Tri-State area to compete for the Femi Memorial Trophy and a $250 prize. The teams included 36 University of the Sciences students, 11 alumni, and 54 community members that raised $2,655.25 for the Femi Memorial Fund. (Read More)

Here I am in Rome, presenting a scholarly paper on short story writer Flannery O’Connor (1925-1964) at “Poetics and Christianity: An International Flannery O’Connor Conference,” sponsored by the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.  I arrived at 8.45 am at Leonardo da Vinci airport after sleeping fitfully on a crowded plane from Philadelphia...

Class Notes

James E. Weller P’59 owned and operated Weller’s Pharmacy in Sayreville, NJ, for almost 40 years before retiring. He moved to Tennessee, where he enjoys hunting, fishing, gardening, and firearms competition.

Michael S. Wolfe C’84, MS, PhD (University of Kansas) is the 2009 recipient of the MetLife Award for Medical Research and the Potamkin Prize from the American Academy of Neurology, both for his research contributions to the understanding of Alzheimer’s disease.

Amy L. Phillips P’98 and David E. Vincenti were married on Oct. 25, 2008, in Laflin, Pa. Wedding guests included Theresa (Martin) Plog P’97, PharmD’98 and Donald R. Klaproth P’98. Amy is a pharmacist with Rite Aid and Dave is a machinist.

Amy (Reader) Willoughby P’00, PharmD’01 and her husband Steven welcomed daughter Sydney Audrey on March 4, 2009, at 5:23 p.m. Amy is a clinical pharmacist at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Del. She and her family live in Hockessin, Del.

Alumni Recognized for Earning Clinical Specialist Certification
On February 9, six alumni were recognized at the Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Assocation for receiving certification as Clinical Specialists.
