Bobby Morgan Selected as a CAA Basketball Legend
University of the Sciences athletic director Bobby Morgan has been selected to the Colonial Athletic Association's 2009 Men's Basketball Legends Class.


The Devils are flying high as Erin Chesnavich BI'10 (left) and Allison Weiss HS'10 (right) repeated as members of the CACC All-Conference Women's Basketball Team, and Adewale Adefemi PMM'11 (center) was named to the CACC All-Conference Men's Basketball Team.

Famed scientist Albert Einstein (Dr. Paul Halpern, professor of physics) entertained students with a poetry reading during a celebration of his 130th birthday on March 13, 2009. The event, hosted by the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics, included poetry, songs, and games, and drew attention to the department’s newly approved bachelor of science in physics.

188th Founders’ Day Celebration
Honorary degree recipient John A. Borneman, III, P'52, gratefully accepted the honor as the University celebrated the 188th anniversary of its founding on Feb. 19. In addition, a faculty and a student award of merit were presented. (Photo Gallery)

Governor Rendell Awards $150,000 KISK Grant to the University
Pa. Governor Edward G. Rendell announced that the University's Dr. John Porter has been awarded a $150,000 grant to support educational and research opportunities in the Department of Biological Sciences.


Honors Program Colloquium
On March 23, a special colloquium is being held to celebrate the USP Honors Program and the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program's 25th Anniversary.

Four University of the Sciences students were selected to attend the 2nd Annual Government Relations Advocacy for Student Pharmacists program in March, hosted by the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association. Joining pharmacy students from across the state, Mariam Hanna PharmD'11, Kareem Karara PharmD'11, Anokhi Shah PharmD'11, and Aditi Shukla PharmD'11, attended the three-day conference which focuses on government relations, legislative action, media training, and the regulatory process.

1986
Charles A. Peloquin PharmD’86 is now a professor at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. He is also a pharmacokineticist at the University’s Emerging Pathogens Institute.

1994
Jennifer (Butz) Hopple P’94 purchased Park Avenue Pharmacy in Chambersburg, Pa., on Feb. 15, 2007. Jenny first started working in the pharmacy, formerly owned by Thomas F. Stonesifer P’59, when she was 16 years old.

1999
Brian C. Stapinski MPT’99, MD (Penn State University) and his wife Melissa announced the birth of their daughter Maggie Lynn on June 6, 2008. Maggie was also welcomed by grandparents John A. Stapinski P’68 and Marie (Mobilio) Stapinski P’68, and aunts Michelle (Stapinski) Pokrinchak PharmD’98 and Caryn Ann Stapinski PharmD’02.


2004
Larissa M. Gasparato BI’04 received her DO degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in June 2008. She is currently doing her residency in emergency medicine at Memorial Hospital in York, Pa.
