USP women's basketball player Erin Chesnavich was honored for the second-consecutive week by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) as their Women's Basketball Player of the Week, and added

MLK Day Community Service Projects
The Department of Physical Therapy sponsored a food drive for the food panty at the Southwest Community Enrichment Center as a way to embrace the “day of service”. That same day, the students in the Department of Occupational Therapy held a successful clothing/coat drive to help meet the clothing needs for the Southwest Community Enrichment Center.

Founders’ Day Set For Feb. 21
USP will celebrate the 187th anniversary of its founding on Feb. 21, 2008, with a number of events, including an honorary degree to be bestowed upon alumnus and entrepreneur Leonard S. Jacob BI’70, MD, PhD. Founders' Day recalls USP's establishment on Feb. 23, 1821, by 68 prominent Philadelphia apothecaries. (read more)

Dr. Anthony Monteiro used the occasion of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday on Jan. 15 to portray Dr. King's inspiration and guidance. (read more)

Dr. Hussar Names Top Drugs for 2007
With fewer new drugs than previous years, Dr. Daniel A. Hussar selected the five most significant new drugs of 2007. Just 17 new drugs were brought to market in 2007. (read more)

Biomedical Writing Programs launched its fourth Medical Journal of Therapeutics Africa. The publication aims to nurture a dialog between pharmaceutical industry professionals in the US and Africa. (read more)


USP Marketing and Development Division Initiates Reorganization

In an effort to meet the strategic needs of USP, a comprehensive redesign of the marketing and development division was implemented on January 10. The overall purpose was to improve the alignment of the marketing and development efforts with goals for the benefit of USP's programs.

1976
Edna (Henry) Parker MT’76 was recently promoted to vice president and director of quality assurance at Laboratory Corporation of America. She lives in Pittsboro, NC.

1987
Donna (Marchesani) Cronin P’87, PharmD’88 is working at Hershey Medical Center as part of the information technology team, implementing new pharmacy systems. At home, she manages seven children ranging in age from one to 14.

1992
Julie A. Kase BC/Psy’92 (PhD’04, University of North Carolina) was appointed by the USDA to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods (NACMCF). Julie resides in Durham, NC and is currently a public health scientist with the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health.

2002
Kristen L. Ohm PharmD’02 and James Filla were wed on March 3, 2007 in Austin, TX. Jennifer A. Sweeney PharmD’02 was a guest. James is an assistant manager at Discount Tire Co. in Cedar Park, TX. Kristen is a pharmacist at Brackenridge Hospital Regional Trauma Center in Austin, where the couple resides.
