Aifuwa Named CACC Runner of the Week
Joy Aifuwa PharmD'10 was named the CACC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending September 30, 2007. Aifuwa ran her best time of the season as she captured the individual title at the Belmont Classic at Belmont Plateau.

Klimitas Chosen NCAA Committee Chair
USP Associate Athletic Director and Head Rifle Coach Paul Klimitas was appointed chair of the NCAA Rifle Committee on Sept. 28.

USP Pharmacy students kicked off American Pharmacists Month with a trip to New York on Oct. 4 and an appearance on NBC's "Today" show where they interacted with host Matt Lauer (right). Watch a clip here. October is also National Physical Therapy Month as USP 's PT Students host a disability awareness activity with the Magee Eagles wheelchair rugby team on Oct. 23.

Former Fortune 100 Senior Executive to Guide USP’s Newest College
Bill AshtonWilliam L. Ashton has been named the interim dean of the Mayes College of Healthcare Business and Policy at USP. Ashton, who joined USP in 2005, is a former Fortune 100 senior executive with 28 years experience in pharmaceutival and biotechnology management. (read more)

Student Affairs has launched a poster series to help users gain a better understanding and possible pitfalls of social networks such as MySpace and Facebook. (read more)

Class Notes
1972: Henry T. Kozek P’72 (CPM’91, MPA’96, Rutgers University) has retired from the N.J. Department of Health after over 31 years of service. He has relocated to Virginia, where he works at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville. On June 23, 2007, he conducted a seminar on regulations and long-term care issues at the NJPhA annual meeting in New Brunswick, N.J.

1991: Peter P. Cymbalski P’91 and his wife Robin recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary in Florida. They are the proud parents of Lindsay (9), Pioty (8), Christian (5) and Julian (1). Pete is senior director of pharmacy at Express Scripts, where he has worked since 2004. Robin retired from her job as executive assistant at Nutri-System to care for their family.

2000: Sharon K. Lee P’00 and Soonjo Kwon were married in Korea on May 6, 2007. Sharon works at Partners Healthcare in Cranford, N.J. Soonjo is a Pratt institute graduate and works as an architect and interior designer in New York. The couple resides in Linden, N.J.

The USP campus community joined the friends and family of Dr. Mary Parenti P’85, PharmD’87 to unveil and dedicate the new Parenti Plaza on September 27.  The Plaza, located in front of the McNeil STC building, was dedicated to Ottavio and Norma Parenti, parents of Mary and her sister Lola Parenti Kenyon P'90. The University’s Study Abroad Fund was officially dedicated in memory of Grania Maggio PT’94 on September 27. Grania studied Physical Therapy at USP and pioneered her own curriculum to include a semester abroad in Ireland. (read more)
