Student Counseling Services

Confidentiality

It is recognized that all students seeking services are clients of the counseling center and are protected by the legal and ethical standards regarding confidentiality and privileged communication. These standards are provided by Pennsylvania State Law, regulations of the PA state Board of Psychology, and the Ethical Principals of the American Psychological Association. As such, no information regarding the treatment of a student/ client can be released to any third party without the written, informed consent of that student/ client. Exceptions are required by law if a counselor receives information either from the student or others about an immediate threat of danger or harm to the student or to others.
