Radioactive materials must be controlled so that unauthorized
persons do not have access. Therefore, stock vials, test samples, and radioactive
wastes must be lockedup or in a locked laboratory when
unattended, even for a short time.
When visitors are not accompanied by authorized laboratory
personnel, find out who they are and why they are there.
If radioactive materials must be stored in refrigerators
or freezers outside of the laboratory, the refrigerator or freezer must be
locked at all times.
Do not store radioactive materials, sources or waste in common
rooms, i.e., counting rooms, centrifuge rooms and cold rooms.
