Saturday, September 20 - Creative Compositions with Hope & Hayden: Poetry and Photography Workshops 10:00 – noon Pharmacology Toxicology Center (42nd & Woodland Sts.), Rooms 131 and 132 Meet two of USciences’ most beloved teachers: poet and professor Warren Hope offers a two-hour introductory poetry workshop; photography professor James Hayden offers a two-hour photography workshop. Sunday, September 21 The Barnes Foundation 2:30 pm 2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia www.barnesfoundation.org The Barnes Foundation’s legendary art collection includes some of the world’s finest examples of post-impressionist and early modern works. The afternoon will begin with a 30-minute presentation of the museum’s history and a description of the collection, followed by a self-guided tour at your leisure. Visitors will also have access to the final day of the traveling exhibit, The World Is an Apple: The Still Lifes of Paul Cleaned. $5 students; $10 faculty, staff, alumni. Monday, September 22 Books through Bars 12 noon – 1 pm Wilson 209-212 www.booksthroughbars.org Headquartered on 47th and Baltimore, Books through Bars distributes free books and educational materials to incarcerated people; they also offer programs that educate and engage the general public to think critically about issues of imprisonment. Year-round volunteer events offer participants a chance to read letters requesting books, select books, and help send them to men and women in prison. Interested in writing for USciences Newspaper "The Prescription"?

If you are interested in participating in The Prescription, USciences' only online student newspaper, please attend our informational meeting on Thursday 9/25 at 6 PM in Alumni Hall: Room 100. It is really fun and easy! You do not need to all attend the meetings to be an active member. We usually publish about one edition a semester. This is a great way to get involved without being burdened and you DO NOT need to be a phenomenal writer! Please consider this wonderful opportunity to contribute to the University of the Sciences community.

Call for Nominations for Honorary Degree Recipients

All members of the University community are invited to submit nominations for honorary degree recipients. Honorary degrees will be awarded at the May 2015 Commencement ceremony and at the Founders’ Day event on Thursday, February 19, 2015. The criteria for nominations, the nomination form, and a list of previous honorary degree recipients can be found under Content>Honorary Degree Criteria~Nomination Form~List of Recipients.
