Dollar Dog Days - Every Thursday

Join us for a Bake Off Competition and vote for your favorite treats!

Want to bake? Sign up with Nina Bove (nbove@mail.usp.edu) by January 30th (today). To compete as a baker: $5
But if you just want EAT and vote for your favorite treats, then admission is $2.00. Where: Wilson Dining Hall on February 1st at 8:30 pm. Categories will be: cakes, cookies, brownies, and other. Winners of each category will win gift cards, and the overall winner will receive a GRAND PRIZE!! Raffles will also be available for all non-bakers! All proceeds will be donated to the Timmy Global Health to provide medical supplies and healthcare to underprivileged people of Ecuador. HELP OUT! Co-sponsored by SGA.  

 

Volunteer at KIPP School in West Philadelphia on Saturday, February 11. 

KIPP School in West Philadelphia at 60th and Baltimore Avenue is looking for USciences students to host sports/arts and crafts programs with their 5th and 6th grade students on Saturday mornings.  You will depart from campus at approximately 8:00 am from Wilson Student Center Lobby and return to campus at 1:30 pm.  All students are invited to participate.  Please sign up by Wednesday, February 1.

 

Blue Mountain Skiing

The Student Government Association will be hosting a bus to Blue Mountain Skiing Lodge on Saturday, February 11.  If you wish to take the bus, you need to reserve a spot by Friday, February 3rd in the SGA office {M-F 11am-6pm}. Transportation is provided by Student Government, the bus will be departing the school at 11:00 am. We will meet in the lobby of Wilson Student Center, please be there no later than 10:30 am. The bus will then leave from Blue Mountain at 6:30 pm.  
**Note: since we are renting a bus, a minimum of 35 students must sign up.
 
The prices for Blue Mountain are as follows (these prices are group rates, payment must be made in full before by February 3 when you complete the sign-up form in the SGA Office):

Lift Pass: $35
Rental:    $28

For anyone that was looking to get a skiing/snowboarding lesson Blue does offer a beginner's package:
Lift Pass, Rental, Lesson: $52- The only stipulation is the lift pass is limited to the beginner courses.

King of Prussia Shopping Trip - February 12

Enjoy the best of shopping at the King of Prussia Mall for Presidents' Day Specials. The date of this trip had to be moved from February 5 to Sunday, February 12. But that means even bigger bargains then before. You must sign up in the SGA office in Wilson 218 by Friday, February 3 by 5 pm and leave a deposit of $5.00. The $5.00 will be returned to you on the bus on the day of the trip. Bus will depart from campus at 12:30 pm from the Wilson Lobby and return to campus from the mall at 5:00 pm.

 

Tutoring and SASS Workshops

If you are interested in signing up for tutoring, you can request a tutor starting Monday, January 30 in the Student Academic Support Services (SASS) office located in 344 Griffith Hall

This semester we will have two Supplemental Instruction sessions – one for General Chemistry II and one for Organic Chemistry II. 
             - General Chemistry II:  Mondays from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in Rosenberger Hall 102
             - Organic Chemistry II:  Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in Griffith Hall 210

Lastly, the dates have been set for the SASS Spring 2012 Workshops (see dates below).  I encourage you all to attend some of these sessions for additional academic support.

Circuit and Cardio Areas Closed

The circuit and cardio areas will be closed the week of 2/6/12 from 8am – 12pm for Physical Education classes.  The track and group fitness studio will be open during those times. 

 

Valentine's Day Flower Sale

The International Society will be selling flowers for your sweethearts in Wilson Lobby on February 14 between 10 am - 4 pm.

 

International Society presents: So You Think You Got Talent?

Gather your friends, sorority, fraternity, or perform solo...in Wilson Dining Hall on March 15 at 8 pm. For more info, contact any of the International Society officers or visit International Society Facebook page. All interested participants are requested to come to an informational meeting on February 23rd. Prizes are $100 Visa Gift card for 1st, $50 Visa Gift card for 2nd and $25 Visa Gift card for 3rd. USciences Jewish Student Association presents: "Blossoming Trees" Tu B'Shevat Celebration

Free dried and exotic new fruits to try! Free admission! Donate towards a tree to be planted in Israel. Help us reach our goal of planting one tree this year ($18.00). Tu B'Shevat, a significant day in the lunar calendar, is known as the "Birthday of the Trees." It marks the beginning of the harvest season. the earliest blooming trees begin to grow fruit around this time. In celebration, it is customary to mark the season by eating exotic and spiritually significant fruits! Come taste some new fruits and learn about the season! Date: February 16th at 2 pm in the ARC classroom. Co-sponsored by SGA.
