OSDSS is here to support the educational endeavors of students with disabilities. Our goal is to support faculty by providing training, practical information and suggestions on how to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

National Facts

The national trends for college age individuals with disabilities are:

  • In the 2000 Census, 13% (16 mil.) individuals under the age of 21 identified as having a disability
  • 9% of college students have a disability (tripled in last two decades), 50% of these students have more than one disability
  • 73% of students with disabilities (compared to 84% with a disability) enrolled in post-secondary education
  • 1 in 25 undergraduate students have a learning disability
  • Private, 4-year:
    • 53.1% attain a Bachelor's degree
    • 15.3% attain a Master’s degree
    • 4.1% attain a Doctoral or Professional Degree
