The Admission Office at USciences hosted its first Virtual Open House in conjunction with CollegeWeekLive on November 10, 2010. Revolutionizing the college admission process, CollegeWeekLive connects students, parents, and counselors live online with colleges across the country.

The Virtual Open House included a lobby simulation with five different booths representing USciences Admissions, Majors and Minors, Athletics, Financial Aid, and Campus Life.

During the six-hour experience, USciences offered five virtual presentations for interested visitors to learn more about the University first-hand from faculty and staff. The presentations included a pharmacy overview by Dr. George Downs, professor of clinical pharmacy; a pre-med/pre-health talk by Dr. William Law, professor of biology and associate dean of Misher College of Arts and Sciences; an introduction to campus life from Everett Herman, associate director of student life; a discussion on financial aid from Paula Lehrberger, director of financial aid; and admissions presentations from Christine McInaw, assistant director of admission, and Erin Fadden, admission counselor. In addition, participants were also able to reach USciences representatives by phone with the “Click to Call” button and could participate in live text chats.

The Virtual Open House at USciences garnered over 800 unique visitors and 520 unique booth visits.

“The Virtual Open House allows USciences to expand our geographic reach beyond our traditional Mid Atlantic region,” said Dianna Collins, executive director of admission, “We are excited with the many opportunities available to us through this new marketing and recruitment tool”

The Admission Office also participated in CollegeWeekLive’s Virtual College Fair, which featured over 300 national colleges. USciences had 228 booth visits and was the second most visited school in the Mid-Atlantic region.

On December 4, 2010, the Admission Office will be hosting its final on-campus open house of the fall semester for all majors and programs. To register for the open house, please visit: www.usp.edu/visitusp/fallopenhouse.
