On March 6, 2009, "The Joseph B. Schwartz Memorial Symposium: Advances in Industrial Pharmacy" was held in honor of Dr. Schwartz, a beloved faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences from 1981 to 2006. The symposium was sponsored by the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and the Office of Research Administration at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Pharmaceutical Forum. In addition to a keynote address, there were four speakers who made presentations on advances in process analytical technology, lyophilization, extrusion-spheronization, and in vitro-in vivo bioavailability estimations. Graduate students from local colleges and universities presented their pharmaceutical sciences research in a poster session sponsored by the Philadelphia Pharmaceutical Forum.
