The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Pharmacy Practice Sections and New Practitioners Forum (NPF) has awarded Mary Ann Kliethermes PharmD’81, the 2008 Section of Home, Ambulatory, and Chronic Care Practitioners Distinguished Service Award.
Selected by the respective past executive committees, the Distinguished Service Awards were created by the ASHP Pharmacy Practice Sections and New Practitioners Forum to recognize a member from each Section and NPF whose volunteer activities supported the mission of the Section or NPF and helped advance the profession of pharmacy.
Dr. Kliethermes, along with six other recipients, was honored at a luncheon held during the Dec. 2008 Midyear Clinical Meeting in Orlando, Fla.
A 1981 graduate of Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, Dr. Kliethermes’ career has taken her down a number of paths, including hospital pharmacy as a clinical coordinator where she developed pharmacokinetic, nutritional support, and adverse drug event reporting programs. She spent ten years in home care pharmacy where, through part-ownership, she was able to develop innovative clinical pharmacy services. Dr. Kliethermes also worked as a consultant, developing the pharmacist immunization program in Ill.
