In an effort to meet the strategic needs of USP, a comprehensive redesign of
the Marketing and Development division was implemented on January 10th. The overall
purpose was to improve the alignment of the marketing and development efforts
with goals for the benefit of USP's programs.
“The reorganization was developed against best practices for university
marketing and development, after listening to many internal and external constituents
of USP,” said Rod Miller, Senior Vice President for Marketing and Development. “The
increased positions for interpersonal outreach and web interactivity will enable
enhanced focus on the University’s key constituents, such as alumni,
faculty and staff, students, corporate leaders, and employers, to name a few.”
The USP Alumni Office was among the areas reorganized with an eye toward
increasing alumni activities and engagement, including visibility and fundraising.
Alumni Relations is now headed by the Vice President of Corporate and Alumni Relations, Susan Barrett, who has worked at USP for seven years, providing a direct line of communication to senior management. In addition, two positions remain in
Alumni Relations – the newly created position of Manager of Alumni Relations and the Alumni Relations
Officer, Pat McNelly, who has worked a total of 20 years at USP with almost 17 years in Alumni Relations.
“The Alumni Association has been in constant contact with the University regarding the changes in Marketing and Development,” said Tiziana M. Fox, P’84, PharmD’02, President, USP Alumni Association. “Since the reorganization, we have had a series of meetings between the University and the Executive Committee of the Association to assure continued alignment. We look forward to enhanced communication and expanded services to all of our alumni.”
